Submission

Every CIT is required to submit a short written essay following registration for CIT Week. This helps CITs reflect on their goals, share more about themselves, and get the most out of the program. Please select your CIT type and complete the appropriate prompt below.

For First-Time CITs

Essay Prompt:
Reflect on your leadership qualities and why you want to become a CIT.

Helpful Ideas to Get Started:
You might think about:

  • Times when you helped or encouraged others

  • A moment when you stepped up as a leader

  • Why being a CIT is important to you

  • What you hope to learn or experience this summer

Length:
Aim for 250–400 words — about 3–5 thoughtful paragraphs.

For Returning CITs

Essay Prompt:
Share how your previous CIT experience helped you grow and what you hope to contribute this summer.

Helpful Ideas to Get Started:
You might think about:

  • Skills you gained last year and how you used them

  • A specific challenge you faced and how you worked through it

  • Moments that made you proud

  • Ways you want to support campers and other CITs this summer
