Join our Team

The staff of St. Joseph’s Youth Camp is at the heart of the magical, transformative experiences we create each summer.

Nestled in the cool pines of Northern Arizona, SJYC is a beautiful and historic place where kids—and the adults who guide them—can be themselves, try new things, and make lifelong memories. Many of our team members were once campers themselves and have stayed connected to SJYC for years, even decades.

Working at SJYC is more than just a summer job and a paycheck. It’s a life-changing experience where you’ll make a meaningful impact on children, build leadership skills, strengthen your ability to collaborate with others, and gain workplace tools that will serve you far beyond camp.

Many staff members look back on their summers at SJYC as the most important, transformational work of their lives.

If you’re enthusiastic, energetic, and have a “can-do!” attitude, we’d love to hear from you. While many of our team members return year after year, we’re always looking to welcome new staff who are ready to grow, give back, and make an unforgettable summer happen.

Please note: Applications for Summer 2026 will open in Fall 2025.

What Makes a Great SJYC Staff Member

Here’s what we’ve learned over the years: the most successful staff members at SJYC share a few key traits. If this sounds like you, we hope you’ll consider applying!

  1. Responsibility & Maturity: Camp staff are trusted with the care and safety of young campers. Being dependable, professional, and calm under pressure is essential—not just for the job, but for the kids who look up to you.

  2. Initiative & Problem-Solving: Great staff see what needs to be done and do it—without waiting to be asked. Whether it’s jumping in to clean up a mess or coming up with a creative activity on the fly, self-starters thrive at camp.

  3. Positive Attitude: Camp can be challenging, and the days are long—but the right attitude makes all the difference. Enthusiasm, flexibility, and a sense of humor help set the tone for everyone around you.

  4. Teamwork & Communication: SJYC is a team effort. You’ll be living and working alongside others, and success means collaborating, communicating clearly, being open to feedback, and supporting each other every day.

  5. Passion for Working with Kids: At the core of everything we do is a love for children and a desire to help them grow. You don’t need to be a teaching expert—but you do need to be kind, patient, and excited to make a difference.
