Why SJYC?

The SJYC Seven: 7 Reasons to Love Camp

A Summer with Purpose

MORE THAN JUST CAMP

At SJYC, it’s not just about fun in the sun — it’s about who our campers and counselors-in-training (CITs) become. Our programs are designed to help kids grow in confidence, character, and connection.

Where Everyone Belongs

YOUR SUMMER FAMILY

Most of our staff grew up at SJYC and return to give back the love they once received. Campers and CITs are welcomed into a tight-knit community where they’re known, supported, and celebrated.

Unplug & Explore

ARIZONA ADVENTURE

Tucked into the beautiful Coconino National Forest, just 25 minutes from Flagstaff, our setting offers hiking, kayaking, stargazing, and cool mountain air — the perfect escape.

Memories That Stick

TRADITIONS WITH HEART

From goofy skits to silly songs and epic campfire nights, SJYC traditions are the moments campers and CITs talk about all year long — the ones they never forget.

Confidence in Action

LEADERSHIP STARTS HERE

Whether they’re navigating the high ropes course or participating in our Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program, our campers and CITs are challenged to step up, speak out, and grow stronger.

Everyone is Known

SMALL CAMP, BIG IMPACT

We’re proud to be a smaller camp — it means more connection, more attention, and more meaningful moments. With small cabin groups and small activity groups, every camper and CIT is seen, heard, and included. Our intentional structure makes it easy to build friendships and grow with confidence.

Lifelong Friendships

CAMP FRIENDS ARE THE BEST FRIENDS

Whether it’s cabinmates, teammates, or counselors, the friendships formed at SJYC don’t fade with the season — they grow stronger with time. Many of our campers and CITs return year after year, reuniting with the people who feel like home.
