Summer Camp Should Be Awesome

Choosing the right summer camp is one of the most impactful decisions you’ll make for your child.

What Our Camp Family Says

Why Choose SJYC?

Camp isn’t just about what your child does — it’s about who they become. At SJYC, we’ve created camp experiences that are deeply rooted in tradition, guided by caring staff, and packed with opportunities for growth, fun, and connection.

What sets us apart?
We’ve put together the seven top reasons families return to SJYC year after year.

More Than Just a Camp

At SJYC, we’re more than a place to ride horses, hike trails, or roast s’mores — we’re a summer family. Campers and counselors-in-training return year after year not just for the adventure, but for the people who make it feel like home.

The heart of camp is our staff. Over 95% of them grew up here themselves, and now they return to give back the same love and support they once received. That’s what makes SJYC special — it’s a home away from home, built on shared traditions, lifelong friendships, and memories that last well beyond summer.

Nestled in the pines of the Coconino National Forest just 25 minutes from Flagstaff, we’ve been welcoming campers since 1949 — and we can’t wait to welcome yours.
